Test your hardware in the browser
Modern browsers can read a keyboard, mouse, microphone, camera and game controller directly, so you can check a device in seconds without installing a driver utility or a test app. That helps before a video call or an online exam, after buying a second-hand laptop or monitor, when a key or button seems to stop working, or when you want to compare your typing or click speed with friends.
- Keyboard and mouse: the keyboard tester lights up every key you press and shows ghosting and rollover; the mouse test checks every button, catches unwanted double clicks, tests the scroll wheel and measures the polling rate. Measure speed with the typing speed test (words per minute and accuracy) and the CPS test (clicks per second).
- Camera and sound: the mic test shows a live level meter and lets you record and play back a sample; the webcam test shows your camera with its resolution and frame rate; the speaker test checks left and right channels and plays test tones and a frequency sweep.
- Screen and gaming: the dead pixel test fills the screen with solid colours to reveal dead or stuck pixels and backlight bleed; the gamepad tester checks buttons, triggers, stick drift and vibration; the reaction time test measures how fast you respond.
Privacy: the tests run on your device. Audio and video from the mic and webcam tests are shown to you only and are never recorded on or sent to our servers, and your scores are kept only in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
Are these device tests free and safe?
Yes. They are free, need no download or account, and run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type, say or show to the camera is uploaded.
Why does the mic or webcam test ask for permission?
Browsers only let a page use your microphone or camera after you allow it. The permission applies to this site only and you can withdraw it in the browser's site settings at any time.
Do the tests work on phones and tablets?
Most do: the mic, webcam, speaker, dead pixel, touch screen, reaction time and typing tests work on phones. The keyboard, mouse and gamepad testers need the device connected.
A test says my device is not detected. What now?
Check the cable or Bluetooth pairing, make sure no other app is using the device, allow access in the browser, then reload the page. Each test page has a troubleshooting section.
