Your quiz

Generate questions automatically
Pick topics and we fill your quiz with ready-made questions from our question bank. You can edit them afterwards. Generate a whole quiz, write your own questions, or mix both.

Your quiz is saved in this browser. When a game ends, its final scoreboard (display names and scores) is kept in our records.

How to run a live team quiz

  1. Write or generate your questions. Type your own, or pick topics such as general knowledge, history, geography, science, art and literature or sports and let the tool fill the quiz from its question bank in your language. Each question has two to four answers, one correct answer and a time limit from 5 seconds to 2 minutes. Your quiz is saved in your browser for next time, and you can export it as a file to share or reuse.
  2. Start the live game on a laptop connected to a projector, a TV or a shared screen in a video call. A six-digit PIN and a QR code appear.
  3. Players join at toolsforanyone.com/join or by scanning the QR code, then type the PIN and their name. In team mode they also pick a team colour. Nothing to install, no account needed, and it works on any phone, tablet or computer.
  4. Play. Each question appears on the big screen with a three-second "get ready" countdown, then the answers open and the clock starts, on the big screen and on every phone, with a beep in the last five seconds. Players tap the matching colour on their phones. When time is up, or everyone has answered, the correct answer and how many people chose each option appear, followed by the leaderboard.

Scoring

A correct answer earns between 500 and 1000 points: the faster you answer, the more you score. Three or more correct answers in a row add a 100-point streak bonus. Wrong or missing answers score nothing. Scores are calculated on our server, and the correct answer is never sent to players' phones before it is revealed, so nobody can peek. In team mode, teams are ranked by the average score of their members, so a small team can still beat a big one.

Ideas for using it

  • Classrooms: revision games, end-of-topic checks and homework reviews that every student answers at once.
  • Work: team-building, onboarding, product training, safety briefings and all-hands icebreakers, in the room or on Zoom, Teams and Google Meet.
  • Events: pub quizzes, weddings, birthday parties, conference breaks and community nights.

Up to 100 players can join one game, and a quiz can have up to 50 questions.

Privacy

Players only enter a display name; there are no accounts and no email addresses. While a game is running, its questions, names and answers are kept on our server. When you start a game we keep a record of it (title, questions and number of players), and when it finishes we keep the final scoreboard with the display names, so we can count games and improve the quiz. Ask players to use first names or nicknames. Quizzes you are writing stay in your browser until you start a game.

Frequently asked questions

Do players need an app or an account?

No. Players open the join page in any browser, enter the PIN and a name, and play.

How many people can play?

Up to 100 players per game. In team mode, players choose one of four team colours.

Can we play remotely?

Yes. Share your screen in a video call so everyone sees the questions, and players answer on their phones or in another browser tab.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no limits on the number of games.

Can the questions be generated automatically?

Yes. Choose one or more topics (general knowledge, history, geography, science and nature, art and literature, sports), the number of questions and the time per question, and select Generate quiz. Questions come from a built-in, hand-checked question bank in your language, with answers shuffled each time. You can edit any question before you start, or add more of your own.

Can I reuse a quiz?

Your quiz is kept in your browser automatically. Use Export to save it as a file and Import to load it on another computer or share it with a colleague.

Is this a Kahoot alternative?

It covers the same idea of a live, PIN-based quiz with points and a leaderboard, for free and without accounts. It focuses on quick multiple-choice games rather than course management.
