How to convert WebP to TIFF
- Drop one or more
.webpimages onto the drop zone above. - Click Convert to TIFF.
- Download the TIFF files individually, or all at once as a ZIP archive with Download all.
Your browser decodes the WebP and UTIF.js writes the TIFF, all on your device. The images are never uploaded, and the tool is free to use without registration.
From web format to print and archive format
WebP has become the default image format on much of the web. Websites, CDNs and content management systems serve it because the files are small, so images you save from a browser often arrive as .webp. That is great for page speed but a problem when the picture has to go somewhere else: print services, desktop publishing software, photo archives and many document systems either do not support WebP or require TIFF.
Converting WebP to TIFF bridges that gap. The result is a standard, lossless TIFF file that print, layout and archiving software can open without plug-ins.
What the TIFF contains
- The same pixels, losslessly stored. The TIFF is written without compression, so nothing further is lost. If the WebP was lossy, its existing compression remains visible; converting cannot restore detail.
- Transparency. The output is RGBA, so transparent areas in a WebP logo or cut-out are kept.
- Animated WebP files produce a single still image.
- A much larger file. At four bytes per pixel, a 1600 × 1200 pixel image becomes about 7.7 MB, even if the WebP was only 150 KB. WebP is one of the most efficient formats available, so the jump is especially noticeable.
Is TIFF the right choice?
| You need… | Convert to |
|---|---|
| A file for a printer, publisher or archive that asks for TIFF | TIFF (this tool) |
| A photo that opens in any app or email | JPG |
| Other formats in one place | Image Converter |
A web image is usually sized for screens, often 1000–2000 pixels wide. That is enough for a small print, but for posters or full-page layouts try to obtain the original high-resolution file; converting a small WebP to TIFF will not make it print larger or sharper.
Frequently asked questions
Does converting WebP to TIFF reduce quality?
No. The TIFF is uncompressed and stores every pixel of the decoded WebP exactly.
Why is my TIFF so large?
The TIFF has no compression, while WebP is highly compressed. The size is roughly width × height × 4 bytes.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. The TIFF includes an alpha channel, so transparent backgrounds remain transparent.
Can I convert several WebP images at once?
Yes. Drop them all in together and download the TIFF files as a ZIP.
