Convert TIFF to PDF

Convert TIFF to PDF online: combine TIF scans and multi-page TIFF files into one PDF, with A4 or Letter pages. Free, private and in your browser: files are never uploaded.

Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How to convert TIFF to PDF

  1. Drop one or more .tif or .tiff files onto the drop zone above, or click to choose them.
  2. Check the order in the file list. All files are combined into one PDF in the order shown, and every page of a multi-page TIFF is kept in its original sequence.
  3. Choose a Page size:
    • Fit to image – each PDF page takes the exact proportions of its TIFF page.
    • A4 or US Letter – standard paper sizes; each image is scaled to fit and centred, and the page turns to landscape for wide images.
  4. Optionally set a Margin in millimetres for white space around each image.
  5. Click Convert to PDF and download the finished document.

The TIFF is decoded by UTIF.js and the PDF is assembled by pdf-lib, both running inside your browser. Scanned contracts, medical letters and tax papers are never uploaded, and there is no sign-up.

Why convert TIF to PDF?

TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is what most scanners, multifunction printers and fax software produce, because it stores images losslessly and can hold several pages in a single file. That makes it a good archive format but an awkward one to share. Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot display TIFF at all, phones often show only the first page, and many upload forms simply reject .tif files.

PDF solves all of that. Every device can open it, it keeps pages together in a fixed order, and it is the format courts, banks, schools and government portals usually ask for. Converting is the quickest way to turn a stack of scans into one document someone else can read.

Multi-page TIFF to PDF

A single TIFF can contain dozens of pages, typically a whole document fed through a scanner's sheet feeder or a received fax. The converter reads every page of the file and turns each into its own PDF page, so a 12-page TIFF becomes a 12-page PDF. If you add several TIFF files, their pages follow one another in the order of the file list.

The common TIFF compression schemes are supported: uncompressed, LZW, Deflate (ZIP), PackBits, CCITT Group 3 and Group 4 (used by fax machines and black-and-white scanners) and JPEG-in-TIFF.

File size and quality

  • Each page is embedded as a high-quality JPEG, which keeps scans sharp while making the PDF far smaller than an uncompressed TIFF. If you still need to shrink it, run the result through Compress PDF.
  • The PDF contains images of the pages, so the text is not searchable or selectable; no OCR is performed.
  • To append the converted scan to an existing PDF, use Merge PDF.
  • Some rare TIFF variants, such as certain 16-bit or CMYK files from prepress software, may not decode. Re-save them as a standard 8-bit RGB TIFF and try again.
Tip: Have photos as well as scans? JPG to PDF builds a PDF from JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC images. To go the other way, PDF to TIFF turns PDF pages back into TIFF images.

Frequently asked questions

Does it convert every page of a multi-page TIFF?

Yes. Each page inside the TIFF becomes a separate page in the PDF, in the same order.

Can I combine several TIFF files into one PDF?

Yes. Add all the files at once and they are merged into a single PDF, following the order of the file list.

Which page size should I choose?

Use Fit to image to keep the scan exactly as it is. Choose A4 or US Letter when the PDF will be printed or submitted to an office that expects standard paper sizes.

Is TIF the same as TIFF?

Yes. .tif and .tiff are two extensions for the same format, and both work here.

Are my scans uploaded anywhere?

No. The whole conversion happens in your browser, so the files never leave your device.
