Most online unzip and archive sites upload your files to their servers, unpack them there and hand back links. These tools work differently: the archive is opened on your own device with libarchive (the engine behind bsdtar, compiled to WebAssembly) and zip.js. Your backups, photos and documents never leave your computer, there are no upload limits or queues, and it works the same on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iPhone.

Are my archives uploaded?
No. Archives are opened and created inside your browser.
Can I create password-protected ZIP files?
Yes. Password Protect ZIP adds AES-256 encryption, which 7-Zip, WinRAR and most archive apps open with the password. Windows File Explorer cannot open AES-encrypted ZIPs, so the tool also offers the older, weaker ZipCrypto option.
